Alberta Senior Health

Association

Alberta Senior Health Association (ASHA) is a Alberta-registered non-profit organization led by high school students devoted to Albertan seniors' physical and mental health. ASHA is dedicated to bridging the gap between youth and seniors while ensuring the involvement of professional knowledge.

Wellness Events

ASHA organizes events such as mini concerts, band performances and more to bring seniors and youth together. These events are designed to share valuble experiences, and support seniors' mental and emotional well-being. By inviting local talent and community partners, we add variety and energy to the lives of seniors. Volunteers gain valuable experience in planning and teamwork with their involvement.

Fundraisers

ASHA organizes fundraisers to support our programs and allows us to bring up more to the table. Fundraisers may include bake sales and donation drives while spreading awareness for our cause. They provide volunteers with opportunities to develop teamwork, time management, and leadership skills.

Companionship Program

ASHA's Companionship Program connects high school volunteers with seniors through regular weekend visits to senior homes like Shepherd's Gardens. These visits focus on building positive relationships through conversation and light activities, such as board games. The program aims to reduce loneliness among seniors while providing youth with the opportunity to learn from older generations. By fostering these intergenerational bonds, seniors gain emotional support and students develop empathy and exposure to valuable insights and perspectives from older generations.
