The Companionship Program connects volunteers with seniors in long-term care and retirement communities through our partnerships with local senior homes. The goal is to reduce social isolation and support overall well-being by providing meaningful conversation, emotional support, and engaging activities.
Volunteers will take part in weekend visits which will be supervised and led by two ASHA execs. During these visits they may spend time chatting, playing games, sharing stories, or simply offering a friendly presence to senior people. Each visit will be expected to be an hour or less long. ASHA will help to build connections between seniors and volunteers. We hope this program can be comforting and enjoyable for both senior people and volunteers.
